Introduction

It goes back to the second half of the year 2014 where in a group of like minded friends got together on the initiative of Shri G R Prasad to form a Co-Operative society under Karnataka Souharda Socities Act 1997. The idea behind this was to support and encourage

  • Self Employment

  • SAVAYAVA – Organic Cultivation

  • Provide Financial Support to Small and Micro Units and

  • Solar Power Usage

These four S remain the focus area for PRANAVA and the organisation has done a lot of work in this direction especially encouraging the youngsters from the colleges to become job creators rather than job seekers.

The inauguration of the Pranava Souharda Sahakari Sangha Ltd was held on 18th of January 2015 with his holy presence and blessings of Sri Sri Gurudevananda Swamiji of Odiyoor in the presence of the Honourable Forest Minister and also the District incharge Minister of Karanataka State Government Shri Ramanatha Rai. The function was presided by the then Mayor of Mangaluru City Shri Mahabala Marla. The dignitaries on the dias included Shri Krishna Palemar Ex Minister of Karnataka Government, Shri Ravichandran - CMD of Diya Systems Mangaluru.

The organisation was started as a business entity for doing banking activities with an idealogy of FINANCIAL SUPERMARKET UNDER ONE ROOF on business front with social commitment keeping the four S as Focussed Area.

A Decade of Challenges and Opportunities

The cooperative sector has been one of the major contributors to the country’s economy. Across the world, this unique system—neither purely capitalism nor socialism—has enabled significant people participation. In our country alone, more than thirty crore people (almost one-fifth of the population) are engaged in cooperative activities in one way or the other

In fact,In our country cooperatives are involved in fertilizer Manufacturing, milk production, consumer marketing, chocolate, housing, credit, and other activities—together numbering more than eight lakh fifty thousand cooperatives—contribute over twenty-five percent to our country’s GDP. This immense number and the potential of the cooperative system seems to have lead to the formation of a separate Ministry carved out of the Agriculture Department.

Cooperatives are set to grow and play an even bigger role in the economic activities of our country, where agriculture remains a major employment provider.

Pranava began its journey in 2015 and is now completing its 10th year of successful banking and allied activities, making a notable mark in the cooperative arena in this region.

The decade has been challenging, yet illed with opportunities. We have witnessed macro-economic turmoil that impacted every sector, including the financial sector. Despite these challenges, our organization has maintained steady growth, even during COVID times, and continued to generate healthy profits. This consistent performance has resulted in non-stop progressive dividend payouts year after year.

Furthermore, Pranava has been consistently categorized under 'A' grade, which reflects our commitment to maintaining transparency, quality asset build-up, good recovery track record, clean documentation, and adherence to all parameters as per the Act and the expectations of our stakeholders.

Even during the pandemic, we successfully expanded our network to other districts like Coorg and Mysore. Today, we are proud that all our eight branches are performing exceptionally well. This success is the result of the professional approach of our Board and the dedicated hard work of eam Pranava, who ensured that we navigated through challenging times to deliver on expectations.

We are learning, growing, and steadily progressing toward our vision. Within the next couple of years, we will establish our own Head Office on the property we recently acquired. This fixed asset will undoubtedly add another feather to Pranava’s cap.

Pranava's charity arm, ‘Pranava Charitable Trust’, has been actively involved in numerous social initiatives. As per our byelaw, 2 percent of our profits are allocated to social causes, enabling us to undertake a variety of service activities, and we are committed to continuing these efforts in the future.

We acknowledge that our members are the true growth-driving ‘catalysts’. Without their cooperation, we would not have achieved this remarkable progress in the cooperative sector within this region.

I am confident that, by God's grace, our vision will be realized as planned, with the dedication of ‘Team Pranava’ and the cooperation of all stakeholders.
